Honda Marine Outboard | 2.3HP | Long Shaft | Tiller
Small but Muscular
A single cylinder 4-stroke that spins freely with the first pull, making it easier to start.
It has the latest technology that accurately controls the ignition timing, so when you start – even from cold – the air-cooled BF2.3 will never let you down.
It's got punch
It can build more solid torque to move heavier craft if required. It’s simple to operate, easy to keep clean and needs minimum maintenance. Add Honda reliability, superior fuel efficiency and low emissions, and you’ve got all you need to start out on the water
Quiet and reliable. Even being the tiniest Honda engine in the range, you’ll be surprised how much fun you can have from it. It has the latest technology that accurately controls the ignition timing, so when you start – even from cold – the air-cooled BF2.3 will never let you down.
Twist and go
With a centrifugal clutch, the engine is able to idle without turning the propeller blades. This means that when you want to go, all you need to do is just roll on the power, which engages the clutch and drives the propeller.
Round and round
Want to change direction quickly? No problem … the little BF2.3 has a swivelling action; perfect for reversing with no gear changing. Just swing the tiller handle 180˚ and the boat will go backwards. This means no hassle manoeuvring around any tight spots.
Look after your prop
The BF2.3 is light and easy to tilt up and out of the water that means the propeller blades are protected from damage in the shallows or at the water’s edge. Its spring design allows it to be safely locked down when you head off again.
Pick up and go
Being the lightest in its class, the BF2.3 engine is so easy to pick up and easy to carry too because it has an ergonomic handle positioned at the precise point of balance. This allows you to walk normally without straining at all.
Throttle control
The twist grip feels remarkably smooth and comes with a throttle tensioner. This means you’re able to fix the throttle position – like cruise control – so relax your hand and just steer.

4Front Corrosion Protection
This engine goes through a four layer coating process. We first anodise the aluminium casing with our patented ‘Double Seal’ process. Then an epoxy primer is applied before the shimmering silver paint. For further protection from UV rays, we apply a clear resin topcoat to finish. And to be absolutely sure, a sacrificial anode is fitted and all connectors are waterproof.
The Honda way
Our founder, Soichiro Honda, wanted to ensure our outboard engines were cleaner, quieter and friendlier to the environment – so he made them 4-stroke. This made Honda pioneers in marine engine technology. Therefore, as you accelerate away, you can have peace of mind in the fact that the clean water you are boating through will be staying that way.
Watertight warranty
Every Honda Marine customer has the support of a domestic or professional warranty, so you’re covered whatever the use. It will also maintain the same value throughout its warranty period - that means your last day of cover is as good as your first. We think that’s pretty unbeatable too.
